odd trends

I have been going through my annual cycle again recently. A cycle I have be stuck in for the past thirteen years in my attempt at finding my place in the creative industry. I have been applying to job listing for design and art working roles, and I have noticed something new and very strange. There is a huge amount

of job listings requesting for a UI/UX designer! What is this contrived thing? Why is it attempting to be more than graphic design? And why are companies buying into this contrived trend? (Can you tell by my tone I’m not a fan!?)

I don’t understand why you would divide up the design and creative industry in this way, why you would take an aspect and principle of design and invent a subcategory of design profession out of it. (and then expect so many years of experience in something that is completely made up)
